About Dan Weedin

Dan Weedin founded Toro Consulting, Inc. in August of 2005. He is a fee-based insurance and risk management consultant helping business owners and organizations accelerate the risk management decision-making process, improve the quality of those decisions, and turn their organizational risk into reward.

Dan is a veteran of the insurance industry, having started right out of college in 1987. After a stint as an underwriter at United Pacific Insurance, he became an award-winning multi-lines agent for two different independent agencies in Washington State. He was named Bell-Anderson Insurance Commercial Agent of the Year in 1992. In addition, he earned the Federated Mutual Insurance Company Big Hitter Award four (4) times and was named to their Leadership Council four years in a row for excellence in sales and client retention.

Dan earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1996 and is set to complete his Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation in 2011. He is licensed as an agent and broker in the State of Washington, however sells no insurance. He is a true advocate for his clients.

He has published numerous articles, op-ed columns, and executive briefs and has been quoted in several publications including the American Express OPEN Forum, Insurance Journal, Best Review, Best Week, Independent Agent Magazine, and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Dan is an accredited “Master Mentor” in the Alan Weiss global consulting community. He is one of only twenty-eight consultants in the world to hold that accreditation. He coaches and mentors risk managers for corporations and business to help them boost their profit margin and strengthen their protection.

Dan is a faculty member for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors providing continuing education training for agents on Commercial Property. He also speaks to groups and organizations on insurance and risk management related issues.

Dan has a passion for coaching and mentoring other entrepreneurs and business professionals. He has the unique ability to translate his success in the insurance industry, public speaking, non-profit world, and athletic coaching into applicable and transferable principles that dramatically improve the effectiveness of those he mentors and consults.

He is a graduate of the University of Washington where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Dan is an active member of his community. He is a past president of the Poulsbo-North Kitsap Rotary Club, a member of two Toastmasters Clubs, and is currently a director for the North Kitsap School District. He married his high school sweetheart and they reside in Poulsbo, WA (near Seattle) with their two college-bound daughters. He enjoys golf, reading, and being walked by his two faithful canine companions, Captain Jack and Bella.
